The next meeting of the Los Angeles Area DB2 User Group will be on Thursday, August 5, at the Sequoia Conference Center in Buena Park.

Directions: The Sequoia Conference Center is located at 7530 Orangethorpe Avenue, Buena Park, CA. Telephone is (714) 670-9252. It is one block north of the 91 Freeway at the Beach Boulevard exit (same exit as for Knott’s Berry Farm). Click here for specific driving directions from your location.

Coffee will be served at 8:30 am; the presentations will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at about 12:00.

Using DB2 Control Center to Manage and Control Your DB2 Subsystems

DB2 Control Center provides a common interface for managing DB2 databases on different platforms including OS/390, Windows, Unix and OS/2. This presentation will describe many of the general features within the product across platforms, but will focus on the new enhancements to support OS/390, including:
  • New Object Views and Actions
  • Maintenance Support Functions
  • Navigator Changes to Improve Usability
  • DB2PM and Visual Explain Launch Support
  • Customized Control Center

Presenter: Peggy Rader is part of the DB2 for OS/390 Brand team in Santa Teresa and provides an interface between DB2 Development and Marketing for DB2 for OS/390 as well as involvement with DB2 related products. Previously, she was a Consultant in the IMS Dallas Systems Center. Peggy's IBM career includes being a branch SE and over 20 years of experience with IMS, including being the IMS Fast Path GUIDE representative and direct responsibilities with several IMS beta programs. She took a 6-year break from IBM as an independent consultant. In this role, she wrote PC software and developed websites and other Internet activities.
