Meeting Information for August 2002

The next meeting of the LA Area DB2 User Group will be held on August 1, 2002 at the Sheraton Cerritos. This is a half day  presentation which includes early coffee and a continental breakfast. The meeting room will open at 8:30am for coffee and refreshments with the first presentation beginning around 9:30.

This presentation will discuss DB2 tuning issues and provide 22 guidelines and tips for achieving optimal performance in a DB2 for OS/390 environment. The presentation will touch on many aspects of DB2

Speaker Bio

Craig S. Mullins is Director of DB2 Technology Planning for BMC Software, located in Houston, TX. Craig has extensive experience in the field of database management having worked as an application developer, a DBA, and an instructor with multiple database management systems including DB2, Oracle, and SQL Server. Additionally, Craig worked as a Research Director with the Gartner Group covering the field of database administration and is the author of DB2 Developerís Guide, the industry-leading book on DB2 for OS/390. His latest book, Database Administration: Practices and Procedures, covers DBA roles and responsibilities, and was published in June 2002. His articles have been published in many industry magazine and journals and he writes a monthly column for Database Trends and Applications magazine, as well as quarterly columns for DBAzine.com and TDAN.com.
