To: Los Angeles Area DB2 Users
The next meeting of the Los Angeles Area DB2 User Group will be on Thursday, October 5th, at the Sequoia Conference Center in Buena Park. Directions: The Sequoia Conference Center is located at 7530 Orangethorpe Avenue, Buena Park, CA. Telephone is (714) 670-9252. It is one block north of the 91 Freeway at the Beach Boulevard exit (same exit as for Knott’s Berry Farm). Refreshments will be served at 8:30 am; the presentations will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at about 12:00.
We are actively looking for new members to help out in our steering committee. We need some of your help to keep the group going with quality presentations and activities. If you think you might be interested and would like to know more about what’s involved, please give me a call – (562) 570-6317.
High Performance Data Propagation will be presented by Craig Sharp, Software Consultant with BMC Software. Craig will examine the role high performance data propagation solutions fill in supporting enterprise wide information access strategies. Different approaches for bulk data propagation and for change capture and change data propagation are described. The performance limitations of each approach are reviewed and a brief analysis is provided of the advantages and disadvantages of each data propagation approach. Particular attention is focused on the use of data propagation solutions to support the implementation and maintenance of business intelligence systems for E-Business and data warehousing. Specific examples are used to show the technology is real and is already being used. This presentation should be particularly relevant for DB2 User Groups because so many DB2 customers have other DBMSs like IMS, VSAM, IDMS, Adabas, Oracle, Sybase, Informix and Microsoft SQL Server installed.
I look forward to seeing all of you at the next meeting. Please drop me a note or give me a call at 562 570-6317 if you wish any additional information.
